EMERGING DIGITAL CURRENCY AND CRYPTOCURRENCY IN INDIA IN THE PAST TWO DECADES: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW
Abstract
Research in Digital Currency and cryptocurrency has emerged significantly for more than two decades, with interest and publication momentum increasing in research which is evidence that this area is becoming a critical Research topic for scholars and academicians. India has made very powerful progress toward digital payments. This paper's main objective is to find the most influential facts published, and to get the better understanding of literature and questions which can be arise in future based on a comprehensive literature review using bibliometric analysis by using Rstudio (biblioshiny) and VOS Viewer software. This paper reviews the literature surrounding cryptocurrency and digital payment via digital currency in India in the last two decades. A detailed biblioshiny analysis was conducted to analytically examine the knowledge development in the area of Digital currency and cryptocurrency within the context of India. The research carried out only on the data from the Scopus database which has 533 documents which were published between 2006 and 2024. On several bibliometric parameters these articles were examined like annual scientific publication, most cited authors, authors' production over time, word cloud, co-occurrence network, and thematic. The results reveal that digital currency gained popularity in India in recent years. Based on the keyword co-occurrence network, the most cited author, Country Scientific Production and other bibliometric parameter help the scholar in their literature review regarding the Digital currency and cryptocurrency in India. This study offers the current knowledge gaps for future research.
